Knights of Malta

Yesterday morning I attended another ceremony to enhance and grow my Masonic career. A continuation to my Knight Templar, https://carlsstuff.wordpress.com/2009/05/20/knights-templar/   becoming a Knight of Malta.

Cant tell you too much about it, but what I can reveal, (as is available to public) is it an impressive ceremony, whereby I was taught the history covering the period from the fall of the Holy Land to the infidels to the ceding of the island of Malta to the Knights by the Emperor Charles V, and I was very honoured to be Knighted  as a Knight of Malta.

The Knights of the Order of St. John of Jerusalem were formed long before their reign on Malta. The Order was originally established in 1085 as a community of monks responsible for looking after the sick at the Hospital of St. John in Jerusalem. They later became a military order, defending crusader territory in the Holy Lands and safeguarding the perilous routes taken by medieval pilgrims.

The Knights Templar came to Malta in 1530, having been ejected from their earlier home on Rhodes by the Turks in 1522. Charles V, the Holy Roman Emperor, gave them the choice of Malta or Tripoli as a new base. From there, they continued their Crusades for Christ to free the Holy Land from the Infidels.

After the ceremony, as per custom, we had a delicious festive board, with wine specifically bottled for the meeting.
