A Flower girl becomes a bride

Posted: November 26, 2016 in Family, wedding

On the 6th of May 2000, I watched a little 8 year old girl dressed in a beautiful pale yellow dress, with flowers in her hair,  walking towards me down the aisle in a chapel.

Little did we realise, that 16 years later, she would, again, walk down the aisle. This time in white with the man of her dreams.

Yesterday we attended the wedding of Nicole’s cousin Leigh, as she married the man her dreams, Kyle, who clearly, swept her off her feet.

It was a beautiful ceremony at a most incredible venue Galagos Country Estate. Despite the pouring rain hampering an outdoor wedding, the ceremony went off perfectly in their little chapel.

Whilst Leigh and Kyle had the photos taken…

… the guests were entertained by live music…

There was a bubbling happy vibe in the reception, where excellent food and elegant decor made the night even more special

It was a very special evening for us, experiencing our flower girl getting married.

Leigh and Kyle, a perfect marriage is just two imperfect people who refuse to give up on each other.

Oh, and lets not forget the dessert plates, on which chocolate print screening thanked the guests.

This weekend we traveled to the Midlands to attend Nicole’s cousin’s wedding. We stayed in an awesome rustic house in the Mbona Private Reserve owned by family.

…thick bush with narrow paths for approximately 4 km (great fun in the rain !!!) to get to the house….

… and a stunning view of the Albert Falls on the other side…

All in all, a fantastic weekend, albeit muddy one…

6 May 2000….

… was a starting point of a new life.  I stood on the carpeted floor with my two close friends next to me, staring down, what seemed to be a long tunnel, feeling the nerves building as the time grew closer.

In the 6 years prior to this moment, I had faced massive gunfire pinned down behind vehicles, shot in the chest at point blank (thank God for bullet proof vests) and faced angry mobs… and never felt these nerves !!

The moment of truth arrived, and a vision of beauty appeared before me ..

… How I envisaged my future… (BOY WAS I WRONG)

15 years later… here we are, still married and happy. We been through some serious ups and downs as a couple, supporting each other through our darkest personal moments, receiving the bad news we will never have children and being blessed with a miracle baby 8 years ago who lights our lives each moment we look at her.

Happy anniversary my love, here’s to the next 15 !!

A taste of a friends wedding

Posted: December 1, 2012 in Photography, wedding

Last weekend, I had the honour of doing the photo’s of a friends wedding. I have known Ondine for 17 years, since tech days as student paramedics.

O.D, this is a tease of what’s to come

Congrats Ondine and Pierre, you make a beautiful couple.

In memory of…

A beautiful young lady, married two weeks ago…

God speed Nikki, you will be missed by all.

On Saturday morning, I received a call that took me by surprise. I was told that this specific couple, after having dated for a considerable time, have decided to get married.

Shocking news?

Absolutely not…

What took me off balance was when the wedding was going to be..Which, as any photographer would ask, to book into the diary, meet the happy couple and make the usual arrangements…But noooooo, not this one!

“TOMORROW”… Im told. “Tomorrow?” i said…Are you sure. “yes” was the reply, “we woke up this  morning and decided, “We love each other so much, lets get married”

So, 24 hours later, a full wedding ceremony, reception, EVERYTHING was arranged and went off without a hitch.

                                                                                                                                      a gorgeous  dress

Even a cake was produced and delivered the next day

What I learnt from this amazing couple, and I feel sorry for ANY guy whose girlfriend and/fiancée reading this, is that you clearly don’t really need months to plan and arrange a wedding.

It can be done it just 24 hours!
